Sardinia offers miles and miles of beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters with marinas full of fantastic yachts especially in the Costa Smeralda. Add to this a landscape of limestone and granite mountains with some of the deepest gorges in Europe, caves with lakes, forests of cork and Holm oaks, spectacular coastlines full of hidden coves and grottos, a countryside full of ancient monuments and traditional values, and a clearer picture begins to emerge of what Sardinia really has to offer. Being roughly the same size of Wales, touring the main attractions of the island during a week’s holiday is a feasible option for those visitors who like to explore.

For ease of reference we have divided Sardinia into six areas and listed the main places of interest with brief descriptions and location maps to help visitors get a very good idea of what the island has to offer. North East (Olbia-Temio province), North West (Sassari province),Central West (Oristano province), Central East (Nuoro and Ogliastra provinces),South East (Cagliari province)and South West (Cagliari and Medio Campidano provinces). Hotels for each of these regions can also be found on separate pages to help minimise search times.
The main airports serving Sardinia are displayed on the map below and for those picking up a hire car from the airports you can get directions by clicking on the relevant airport icon and select the directions link. At the bottom of the map just put the address of your hotel or nearest town and select ‘get directions’. Friends of Sardinia also provides a free service to help visitors plan their ideal holiday.
